School of Recognition for HHS

Accepting the DESE School of Recognition honor at the State House last month on behalf of Hopkinton High School were (from left) assistant principal Justin Pominville, principal Evan Bishop and assistant principal Joshua Hanna.

The honors continue to roll in for Hopkinton High School, which earlier this month was recognized at the State House on June 7 as a Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) School of Recognition for High Achievement.

Some 57 schools at all levels from across the state were recognized, and Hopkinton was one of just a few high schools highlighted.

HHS principal Evan Bishop and assistant principals Justin Pominville and Joshua Hanna were on hand to receive the award.

“It means a lot,” Bishop said. “There are so many people here that work so hard. We have such a dedicated teaching staff. We have such hard-working students and supportive families in the community. It’s nice to be acknowledged for the hard work that everyone puts in.

“Clearly our kids are a group of students that cares about education but also tries to find balance and get involved in a number of different activities outside the school. It’s a nice environment here, but it’s wonderful to be recognized for some of the achievement and performance that’s going on within the classroom.”

Rajendran a delegate at conference

Hopkinton High junior Ambrose Rajendran joined classmate Journey Domanique Tamba as a delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Lowell on June 23-25.

The congress is an honors-only program for high school students who want to become physicians or go into medical research fields. The purpose of the event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the country who aspire to be physicians or medical scientists, to stay true to their dream and, after the event, to provide a path, plan and resources to help them reach their goal.
