Main Street Corridor Project update: Town Hall entrance to be closed

by | May 15, 2022 | News

In its weekly Main Street Corridor Project update, the town announced that two-way traffic on Main Street will be maintained (following last week’s alternating lane of traffic) and the entrance to Town Hall will be closed. Access to Town Hall will be via the exit — as both an entrance and exit.

Other work this week includes the installation of electric manholes on Main Street, between 10 and 42 Main Street. On-street parking on both the north and south side of Main Street will be impacted/not available during this work.

Telephone and Comcast manholes will be installed on Main Street between Walcott Street and the entrance to Town Hall. On-street parking on both the north and south side of Main Street will be impacted/not available during this work.

Barrels at the curb line will have temporary “No parking” signs attached. Cones will be used to delineate traffic. The contractor will coordinate with any abutter who is completely blocked by construction operations. Work hours will be the standard 7 a.m.-3 p.m., with the possible extension to 5 p.m. when needed.

Saw cutting operations will take place Monday (May 16) to complete conduit trench cutting. A second crew will work on underground services in the area by the Fire Station and Police Station.

There may be work on private property to install conduits from the street to building foundations, although no work on foundations or inside any buildings will be done at this time.
