Holiday Stroll continues favorite traditions, adds new ones

by | Nov 27, 2019 | News

With the addition of the Holly Trolleys, community members may roll, as well as stroll, between local businesses at the 2019 Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce Holiday Stroll. The event, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., will offer the opportunity to shop, eat and enjoy a variety of festive activities and entertainment.

The Stroll again will include the Holiday Stroll Passport Challenge, a contest encouraging Stroll participants to visit multiple locations. Passports will be available as an insert in the Day of Brochures, available at participating locations or on the Hopkinton Chamber website (hopchamber.com). To complete the challenge for the $500 cash prize drawing, individuals will need to visit at least 24 participating business locations, including at least six location visits in each quadrant, on Dec. 7 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., then submit their passport to info@hopchamber.com before 5 p.m. on the same day. To complete the challenge for the $1,000 cash prize drawing, individuals will need to visit at least 38 business locations from all participating locations and follow the same time and submission guidelines as the $500 drawing.

Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce members, community groups, high school volunteers and nonprofit organizations all are playing a role in the Stroll, which will include charitable drives, traveling carol singers, music and theater performances, food tastings, specialty sales, family activities, an ice sculpture demonstration at 3 p.m. on the Town Common, then Santa arriving via firetruck for the annual tree lighting ceremony.

Two 50-minute “Nutcracker” productions will take place at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

“There will be four trolleys traveling three routes throughout town with numerous stops to get event participants the opportunity to visit as many locations as possible,” said Cristina Morrissiey, Chamber of Commerce president and vice president at UniBank. “There is no cost to use the trolleys, thanks to the gracious support of our sponsors.”

Holly Trolleys routes will be:

  • Center of town along Route 85 to Start Line Brewery;
  • Center of town up to 110 Plaza/UniBank and Price Chopper;
  • Center of town along Main Street to Weston Nurseries.

“With the trolleys this year, participation is expected to be high with a lot of people in and around town,” Morrissiey said. “We are encouraging everyone to plan ahead by picking up the Day of Brochure at participating locations in advance.”

Holiday Stroll major sponsors include event sponsor UniBank for Savings, media sponsor Hopkinton Independent and supporting sponsors Hopkinton Center for the Arts and ABDesigns. Trolley sponsors include American Climbers, Middlesex Savings Bank, Oasis Financial Services, Office of Karen Spilka, Resilience CrossFit, Webster First and Weston Nurseries.
