Resident arrested for DUI in Ashland

A Hopkinton resident was arrested on the afternoon of Dec. 10 in Ashland after driving into a curb while leaving a doughnut shop, according to a report in the MetroWest Daily News.

Ashland police arrested 41-year-old Matthew Drake, of 46 Walcott Valley Drive, for driving under the influence of liquor, driving with a license that was revoked for being a habitual traffic offender and driving to endanger, the report stated.

Police said Drake smelled of alcohol, slurred his words and then “did not do well” on the field sobriety tests he agreed to take. Officers also indicated that they found five empty nip bottles inside Drake’s car.

Drake was arraigned on Dec. 11 and released without bail, under orders not to drive. He has a pretrial conference scheduled for Jan. 29.
