Police from Hopkinton, Milford chase speeding driver who apparently struck truck

by | Sep 1, 2024 | Featured: News, News, Police & Fire

A vehicle apparently traveling at a high rate of speed on Saturday morning struck a truck in Milford, spurring a police pursuit by the Milford and Hopkinton police departments up Route 85 to the Southborough line, according to information from both police departments.

“It was a chase which started in Milford and ended on the Southboro town line,” stated Lt. Scott van Raalten in an email Saturday afternoon to the Independent. He referred the Independent to the Milford Police Department for more information.

The Independent reached out to Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino and the Milford Police Department separately on Saturday afternoon seeking more details. On Sunday morning, an MPD operator said Officer Bayley Laughlin participated in the pursuit. The Independent left a message for Laughlin, who was on duty in Milford at the time of the call.

“The person hit my son in Milford and took off,” a woman stated in a Facebook post Saturday. “They have the car, and the person is now on foot. Thank goodness my son was paying attention and swerved to avoid a head-on collision! A mom’s worst nightmare, receiving the call I received.”

Added the woman: “My son is OK and luckily drives a big truck. Lol.”

The Independent will provide more details as soon as they become available.
