DPW announces road repaving projects, which will start in July

by | Jun 2, 2022 | News

As part of the town’s Pavement Management Plan, road work tentatively is scheduled to begin sometime after July 4, the town’s Department of Public Works announced Thursday.

Each street that is on this year’s list has been inspected and evaluated to determine which treatment method is best based on the street’s current condition, the DPW stated.

Under the town’s road opening permit policy, no permit will be granted for a period of five years on newly paved streets except in the case of an emergency. Residents who are considering any utility work that requires excavation within the town’s right of way on any of the streets listed below should make sure that work is completed by July 4.

Following is a list of streets that are scheduled to be resurfaced this year.

Daniel Shays Road — Full length

North Mill Street — Full length

South Street — West Main Street to 710 feet south of West Main Street

South Street — No. 176 to the Milford town line

Westcott Drive — Pond Street to 760 feet south of Pond Street (the old section)

West Elm Street — Barbara Road to the dead end

West Main Street — 100 feet east of South Street to 900 feet west of South Street

The DPW advises that once work begins on each project, residents should expect delays, seek alternate routes when possible and avoid parking on the street, as that will interfere with the contractor’s ability to complete the needed work.
