Groups plans candlelight vigil on Town Common after school shooting

by | May 26, 2022 | News

Following Tuesday’s school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, some Hopkinton residents are planning a candlelight vigil for Thursday night. The event, called “Reflection and Remembrance, Policy and Change,” will be held at the Town Common from 7-8 p.m.

Tuesday’s shooting at Robb Elementary School claimed the life of 19 children and two teachers. It took place 10 days after a shooting at a supermarket in Buffalo killed 10 people.

“Sadly, these are just two of countless mass shootings in this country and lives lost to gun violence,” organizers posted on the event’s Facebook page. “Let us be together and be silent in reflection and remembrance. We reflect today, and we take action tomorrow.”
