Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.
Town Democrats meet tonight to elect convention delegates
The Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee will meet tonight to decide which members it will send to the 2025 State Democratic Convention.
The group is slated to meet at 6:30 p.m. in the Select Board room of Town Hall. Check-in begins at 6 p.m., and those not in line by 6:45 will be ineligible to vote.
Those eligible to vote include any registered Democrats in town who are at least 16 years of age by March 29. The caucus will select up to 10 of its members along with four alternates to represent the town at the Sept. 13 convention in Springfield.
MassDems opened its caucusing process March 29. Until May 18, municipalities across the commonwealth will elect delegates who will “discuss and decide” on the Massachusetts Democratic Party’s platform during the convention.
Dates for an upcoming state convention or caucuses for MassGOP are unclear. The Independent reached out to a representative of the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee but did not receive a response.

Correction to caucus story, the Chair of the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee did respond, multiple times, but the Independent and the HRTC Chair could not reach a time that worked for both due to a busy work travel schedule.

Editor’s note: The HRTC chair did not reply to multiple messages until after the publication of this story.
OK, I guess a timeline is needed for clarification. The first call I received from the Independent was Wednesday afternoon and I replied via email on Friday morning at 6:03 am to try to coordinate a call. I guess if your deadline was before Friday at 6am, then you are correct, I didn’t respond by the publishing of the article.
My ask is that if you would like a response from the HRTC, then please try to give me a little more time than 24 hours to respond. I don’t think that is unreasonable.
Thank you.
