The town is looking for volunteers to fill vacancies on two recently established committees.

The Water and Sewer Advisory Board, which is a new addition to the roster of town committees, is a five-member board. It is intended to advise the Select Board and Town Manager on “policy matters involving the municipal water and sewer systems,” along with issues like regional water systems, PFAS, water/sewer funds and more.

Residents who have backgrounds in public health, environmental science and civil engineering and/or have experience with public works are encouraged to apply.

Just established at a Select Board meeting on Tuesday, the new Trails Committee officially replaces the disbanded Upper Charles Trail Committee and the Trails Coordination and Management Committee.

Both committees were dissolved due to overlapping duties and what Select Board chair Brian Herr characterized as “organizational behaviors” that have impeded progress.

The new Trails Committee will be comprised of nine members, each of whom will serve a three-year term. All town residents are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities of the committee include enhancing trail connectivity in town, developing regional trail connections (including the Upper Charles Trail), standardizing trail signage, advising the town on trails-related activities and implementing plans for trail management and maintenance, among other duties.

Those interested can apply on the town’s Board & Commissions Application Form.
