Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
During its meeting Monday night, the Planning Board voted to hold spots for two commercial zoning articles on the Town Meeting warrant, one dealing primarily with more aggressive screening rules and the other the previously submitted solar overlay district map.
Hopkinton’s latest COVID-19 update shows 66 active cases in town. It also includes information about the state relaxing restrictions, including the lifting of the stay at home advisory and the mandatory early closing order.
The pandemic has impacted the Hopkinton High School athletics program significantly this winter and, like his fellow coaches, boys basketball coach Tom Keane is doing his best to roll with the punches. The Hillers played three games before the need for COVID-19 contact tracing at the high school interrupted the schedule. Hopkinton had to shut things down for six days. Suddenly, a coach who only until recently eschewed the need for a cell phone was leading film sessions over Zoom.
Town meetings tonight include the Select Board (6), Appropriation Committee (6), Commissioners of Trust Funds (6:30) and Conservation Commission (7).
