Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
Superintendent Carol Cavanaugh on Friday announced the hiring of a new principal for Hopkinton Middle School. Matthew Lefebvre has been hired after serving as an assistant principal at Westborough High School for the past decade. Additionally, Jeffrey LaBroad was hired as assistant superintendent, and Kiely Murray will be the interim athletic director at the high school.
Friday’s Veterans Breakfast at the Hopkinton Senior Center was sponsored by the family of the late Joseph Pyne. An archetypal “townie,” Pyne served in the U.S. Army, and his memory evoked many animated stories.
Following Monday’s day off, work will continue on the Main Street Corridor Project on Tuesday. As workers excavate the existing roadway gravel and install, grade and compact new gravel between the Fire Station and the Wood Street intersection, a single lane of alternating traffic will be used as needed, and eastbound traffic will be detoured from Main Street to Pleasant Street to Grove Street and back to Main Street.
