Letter to the Editor: McSweeney for School Committee

by | May 7, 2026 | Letter to Editor

I’m happy to support Kyla McSweeney for reelection to the School Committee.

Through my role on the Sustainable Green Committee, I had the opportunity to work with Kyla for a year while she served as our liaison to the School Committee. She attended our meetings consistently and followed up on every request. I especially appreciated her commitment to pursuing options that were both sustainable and cost‑effective — a balance that matters deeply to our community. The sustainability measures the schools have adopted in recent years reflect that kind of steady, informed leadership. Now as chair of the School Committee, she continues to champion practical, forward‑looking green initiatives that keep our district moving in the right direction.

As a parent, I’m also grateful to see a committee member with such a strong professional background in early childhood education. Kyla brings an understanding of how decisions at the district level affect students, families and educators in real, day‑to‑day ways. That perspective is invaluable.

For these reasons, I’m proud to support Kyla’s continued service on the School Committee.

— Geoff Rowland, Hopkinton
