Main Street Corridor Project update: Progress made with transformer installation

by | Aug 9, 2024 | News

The town on Friday issued an update on the Main Street Corridor Project, noting that the final six transformers of the 12 necessary to complete the project were received from Eversource. They are in the testing phase, and no issues are anticipated.

Three of the six transformers initially delivered were installed by Eversource on July 25 in the vicinity of the Town Common. All six were received earlier that week. It is unclear when the remaining transformers will be installed.

The receipt of the transformers had been delayed for months by supply chain issues.

Overhead utility line work will continue on the west side of the project during the upcoming week, while work on underground utility connections from property lines to building foundations also continues.

Polar Vortex’s painting crew will continue its work on the traffic poles, repairing peeling paint. Scheduled hours for this work will be from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Locations for repairs include the intersections of Main Street and Commonwealth Avenue, Pleasant Street, Grove Street, Church Street, Wood Street and Hayden Rowe Street, as well as in front of the Fire Station.

K Dupont will be onsite on Monday, Aug. 12, for a brick work mock-up in front of Town Hall.

This schedule may change due to weather and existing conditions found while performing these tasks. This work may impact traffic and require lane and sidewalk closures, limiting access to driveways and entrances to businesses. Detours and alternating traffic patterns may be used as necessary.
