Man who died in crash on Hopkinton highway ID’d as corrections officer from Framingham

by | Dec 28, 2021 | News, Police & Fire

The 24-year-old who died in a crash on an icy Interstate 495 in Hopkinton on Christmas Eve morning was identified Tuesday as Ryan Gaudet, a corrections officer who lived in Framingham.

According to a GoFundMe page that was set up to assist his family, Gaudet was returning from an overnight shift at the prison in Shirley when his truck went off the road. A Massachusetts State Police announcement previously indicated that Gaudet’s Ford F250 hit the Fruit Street bridge abutment. He was pronounced dead after being taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

The fundraising page shared some background on Gaudet, indicating he was a wrestler when he was a student at Framingham High School.

“Everyone who knew Ryan says he could light up a room with his smile. He had the biggest heart and was always willing to help friends and family,” the GoFundMe introduction reads.

“His passion for helping others extended throughout the community. Ryan’s career in law enforcement clearly showed that he put his life on the line every day to serve others. His selfless ability to help others was admirable and courageous. His loss is tragic for his family, friends and his community as a whole.”
