Hopkinton Fire Department personnel were among those called to the scene of a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 495 South in Hopkinton on Friday around 8:27 a.m.

According to State Police, a 2004 Ford F250 left the roadway and crashed into the bridge abutment at the Fruit Street overpass on the right side of the highway. The sole occupant of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man from Framingham, was pronounced dead after being transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

The right lane of I-495 South was closed as police worked on crash reconstruction and the area was cleaned up.

The Hopkinton Fire Department Twitter accounted indicated that the department attended to multiple accidents Friday morning, as light snow helped create slippery conditions.

“We realize today is a big travel day and folks are excited to get where they’re going,” the HFD tweeted. “We want you to get there safely. Please slow down and be cautious!”

The incident remained under investigation by Troop C of the State Police along with the Collision Analysis Reconstruction Section and Crime Scene Services Section.
