Letter to the Editor: Coutinho for Select Board

by | May 10, 2022 | Letter to Editor

The race for Select Board this year includes a couple of strong candidates. John Coutinho is one of them. I served with John in Town Hall for many years. I know he is dedicated, reasoned and focused on the issues that matter most to Hopkinton.

Beyond the excellent education our kids deserve, John recognizes the positive economic impact great schools have on our property values and our town. As he has done in the past, John will always protect our schools as a member of the Select Board.

John also understands how important public safety is to our community. No volunteer in town has worked harder in the last 10 years to be sure we can rest easy in our homes than John Coutinho. John will always keep an eye on the town departments that work tirelessly on our behalf!

Lastly, John is experienced in the budget process. He will make sure your hard-earned tax dollars bring the strongest return on investment possible to the Town of Hopkinton. John is very careful with our money!

On Monday, May 16th, please join me in casting one of your two votes for John Coutinho.

— Brian Herr, Hopkinton

Letter to the Editor: Auciello Road deserves acceptance

I am writing as a private resident to express my support for Article 38 — the acceptance of Auciello Drive at Town Meeting. While I serve on the Planning Board, I offer this perspective solely in my individual capacity and have recused myself from any official...

Letter to the Editor: Auciello Drive should be public road

I’m writing in support of Article 38 to accept Auciello Drive [as a public road] at this year’s Town Meeting. At its core, this is about people. Families live there. Kids play there. Emergency vehicles depend on access there. These are our neighbors, not an...

Letter to the Editor: Sandy Beach could be more accessible

I am Maddy Grant, I’m 9 years old, and I go to Elmwood. I am writing this letter to convince people that we should make Sandy Beach more accessible to disabled people. It would be better if the beach had special wheelchairs to help people wheel over the sand. Or...

Letter to the Editor: Town leaders need to explain actions

I write following up my comments at the March 3 Select Board meeting, which I made with respect to the Select Board’s executive session on Jan. 30, 2018. That session was attended by, I believe, 13 individuals, including Peter Sismanis, his attorney, town counsel,...

Letter to the Editor: Scoop your dog’s poop

There are more dog poop piles than there are nip bottles on the side streets of downtown Hopkinton, and that's saying something! Our sidewalks are littered with poop. It’s nasty for the kids walking to school, who will track the poop on their shoes into the...
