Sue Scannell Gilbert says the best part about acting is the “vicarious catharsis” she feels when stepping into a role. “It’s just fun for me to be different people,” she said. She studied theater in college and went on to do modeling before getting jobs in television. Notable castings she recalled include “The A-Team,” “Remington Steele” and a role on the primetime soap opera “Dynasty” (pictured, with Gilbert seated at left). She founded the Astoria Performing Arts Center in New York and later returned to her native Massachusetts, where she met her husband, Bob, and moved to Hopkinton. The pair remain active with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, producing and working in shows and mentoring young actors. “They keep me busy, and I love it,” said Gilbert.
The Arts Residency, sponsored by realtor Alan Connell, is a regular Hopkinton Independent feature. Every other week, Hopkinton Independent staff selects an individual to highlight following consultation with leaders in the local arts community.
