by | Apr 13, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Darsh Trivedi was motivated to run in the Boston Marathon because of the unconventional inspiration methods used by his family to persuade him. He is running as part of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team to support a young cancer patient and in memory of his late father and grandfather, who died from cancer.

Ten years after her Boston Marathon run was halted a mile from completion due to the finish line bombing, Beth Hankin will run again, supporting the Hopkinton Women’s Club.

Rachel Stevenson will run Boston for the first time in 21 years, raising funds for Hopkinton Girls Youth Lacrosse in the process.

The Conservation Commission at its in-person meeting Tuesday night unanimously approved the notice of intent that would allow construction of the next development phase of The Trails to proceed, but it decided to table a discussion of how to resolve previously assessed fines.

As plans progress for a proposed Elmwood School replacement, Robert Bell, educational programmer/principal for architect Perkins Eastman, provided an update on tweaks that were made following three more meetings with faculty and staff as well as community members.

The Hopkinton High School Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Jeremy Dodge, performed at the Massachusetts Association of Jazz Educators (MAJE) Festival on March 25 at Norwood High School.

This week’s Police Log includes reports of brown water, a fake ID and multiple cases of fraud.

Town meetings tonight include the Parks & Recreation Commission (5:30), School Committee (7) and Cultural Council (7).
